This website was brought to my attention by Jackie Thaw, when she asked us to contribute to it over the summer. Assignment aside, I think Sagmeister's idea here is brilliant. By and coming up with these mottos, he gives himself a chance to introspect and learn about himself as a person. Then, he takes the opportunity to challenge and develop himself as an artist. Finally, not only does he share his nuggets of wisdom, but creates a forum for others to share theirs, giving others to take part in this rare chance for personal and creative growth. The result is artwork that's dynamic, versatile, compelling, original, and constantly evolving, especially when it comes to the site's interactive element. As a viewer, I find myself returning to the site all the time to see what people are posting, hoping to learn a thing or two. It's very inspiring.
This is one of those great ideas that I can only wish I had imagined myself. I think if I could come up with something like this, I would by glad to do it for the rest of my life.
For my small part, here's my contribution:
